The Moola in Marketing

Let's be honest, when you're thinking about possible careers to pursue, the amount of money you could potentially make at that job definitely comes into play. It's pretty well known that business can be a very lucrative career path, but how exactly does marketing stack up?

When compared with other business fields such as accounting, finance, and supply chain, marketing has a lower average starting salary, $49,419. So coming straight out of college, you may be starting off with less pay than your fellow businessmen and women, but don't fear, because marketing also has the highest percentage of salary growth. Just by getting your master's degree you could be making almost $30,000 more already.

Within marketing, there are so many opportunities for promotion and job growth. Most marketers straight out of college begin in sales, making less money, but in some cases making commission. Once they've done their time in sales, most people are promoted to marketing communicator, developer, manager, and then even director. More promotions lead to higher pay. Not everyone takes the same promotional path, but movement through different positions is very common in marketing.

So, if you're considering a career in business with ample room for salary and professional growth, marketing may just be the route for you.
